STONY MOUNTAIN - WALKING AND CYCLING TRAIL PROJECT
The Stony Mountain Community Association's latest project is working with the RM of Rockwood to develop walking/jogging/cycling trails in and around the Stony Mountain Community.

Thanks to the great weather, the SMCA was able to complete an integral part of the planned walking trail network in early December. The new trail is east of the baseball diamonds to King Edward Road. This trail was built along a road allowance that was never developed. It’s a really scenic part of our town that many people have not seen before.
Combined with the other trail segments completed along Old Highway 7 from Allard Place to Quarry Road (built by RM of Rockwood this Fall) and the section along Pikes Peak (built in the fall by the SMCA for the Stony Mountain Run) – close to 2km of trail have been built in our community in the last few months. This is an exciting start to the overall trail project planned by the SMCA!!
The SMCA is very appreciative to the RM of Rockwood, the Stony Mountain Run Committee and the Stony Mountain Curling Club Goose Shoot Committee who all contributed financially to this project. Special thanks also goes to RM of Rockwood, Standard Quarries, Stony Mountain Institution, Darcy Richardson, Bob & Cam Stewart and Kenton Byle for your helping with the construction.
Stay tuned for more information on this exciting project to come out in the coming months.
